Why should I use Blondie Cleaners for all my dry cleaning needs?

How do I pay for my dry cleaning services?

We accept cash, debit, Visa and MasterCard. Each job is individually assessed and priced based on the work that needs to be done. Feel free to contact us to inquire about your garment care needs.

Does Blondie Cleaners provide coupons and/or discounts?

We offer a 10% discount to seniors 65+. We also offer 30% discount on drapery in January and 20% in February. Please sign up here if you would like to receive a 10% discount.

How long does it take to have alterations done?

We recommend that you allow 1-2 business days for alterations.

How often should I dry clean my clothes?

Garments should be dry cleaned as soon as possible after wear. They get soiled and affected by perfume, deodorant, perspiration, salt and sugar. Stains left for longer periods of time are more difficult to remove. During normal wear, air pollution and grit weakens the fibres of your garments.

Dry Cleaning Questions

What is dry cleaning?

Dry cleaning uses a fluid solvent to remove soil and stains from fabric. The fluid contains little or no water and does not penetrate the fibres as water does. The solvent dissolves greases and oils in a way that water cannot. Dry cleaning helps renew your garments using precautions to prevent shrinkage, loss of colour, fabric distortion and damage.

What is the difference between dry cleaning and laundering?

Dry cleaning means to clean a garment with anything other than water. We use an environmentally friendly solvent for the dry cleaning process. Laundering is cleaning with water.

When can I expect my cleaning to be ready?

We advise you to allow 1-2 business days for optimum cleaning services of garments.

Does Blondie Cleaners offer quick dry cleaning services? Are there any additional charges?

We work with your timelines to the best of our ability and can offer same-day services upon request at no extra charge. Feel free to contact us to inquire about your specific garment care needs.

Should I use Stain Removers before I bring in my garments?

It is recommended that you don’t use any stain removing products prior to your visit. Store bought stain removers often react with dry cleaning solutions as they are designed to work with water. Please refer to our Tips and Tricks page to find more to look out for before you bring your garments in for dry cleaning.

Do you clean other fabrics and household items such as draperies and bedspreads?

Yes, we do offer drapery and bedding cleaning services at Blondie Cleaners.

Do you clean leather boots?

Unfortunately we do not have footwear cleaning services at Blondie’s but are happy to send them to Suede Master in Toronto along with any other leather or suede garments you may wish to have cleaned.

Tips and Tricks

1. READ THE LABELS

All garments display at least one safe cleaning method. If your ‘dry clean only’ garment is laundered and damage occurs, the responsibility is yours.

2. IF YOUR CLOTHES ARE HANDMADE, KNOW THE MATERIALS

Make sure you are aware of all materials used for the garment before bringing it to be dry cleaned. Despite our extreme care, certain fabrics may bleed, shrink, or lose its stretch and iron-on interfacing may disappear.

3. DON’T LEAVE YOUR CLOTHES IN THE BACKSEAT OF THE CAR

Your garments will fade and fabric fibres will weaken in sunlight and heat.

4. POINT OUT STAINS AND TELL THE DRY CLEANER WHAT LEFT IT

Different stains require different treatments. Bring the stained clothing in right away for optimum results.

5. EMPTY YOUR POCKETS

We will empty your pockets on site and throw away any garbage, but please check to make sure to take everything you would like to keep.

6. LET US KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE ITEMS BAGGED SEPERATELY

You may like the convenience of having items bagged separately, so please let us know. We do recommend that you take advantage of our Reusable Garment Bag to reduce the need for poly bag waste.

7. SPRAY YOUR BODY, NOT YOUR CLOTHES

The alcohol in fragrances, hairsprays and other toiletries leave yellowish stains that are not visible until after garments are dry cleaned.

8. MULTIPLE PIECE ENSEMBLES OR SUITS SHOULD BE CLEANED AT THE SAME TIME

To maintain colour consistency, be sure to clean all pieces of your ensemble or suit at the same time.

9. DON’T ATTEMPT YOUR OWN STAIN REMOVAL

You’ll find hundreds of tips on how to remove stains on the internet, although many don’t take into consideration the materials you are working with. A common fatal error is the use of acetone which dissolves acetate fibres. Instead, bring it to a Blondie’s location where our team of experts use the right methods with the right fabrics to leave your garments looking better than new.

10. DON’T IRON STAINED CLOTHING

This can permanently damage the fabric.

11. DON’T RUB A WET STAIN

This will spread the stain and embed it deeper into the garment. Instead, try and absorb excess moisture with a paper towel or cotton towel and then have it dry cleaned.

12. BE OUR FRIEND, ASK US QUESTIONS

If you have any questions or concerns which we have not answered on our FAQ page, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or come in to any of our four locations for advice about your dry cleaning needs.
